Being thin is desirable in many cultures. When people talk about losing weight, we use certain words:
Many companies promise that their products will help in losing weight. Be careful with their promises. Some products are unhealthy and have long-term health effects.
Experts agree that the best way to lose weight and not gain it back is by making small changes in your eating habits (eat a little less or eating less fat) and in physical activity (be a bit more active).
One simple change is to stop drinking sugary drinks. Pop and sugared juices contain a lot of sugar. The body converts the sugar into fat and stores it. To find out how much sugar there is in a drink, look at the nutritional label in the package if there is one. One kind of sugar that is often used is 'fructose.'
Another way of losing weight is to eat less food with saturated fats such as bacon, meat, sour cream and butter.
So, stay away from pop and drink water or real juice; and skip the bacon and butter.
